Umoghun'Nokhua community was thrown into apprehension during the week as Uyiosa filling station was gutted by fire. Though no life was lost but the station was totally razed down destroying properties worth millions of naira while some Good Samaritan who tried to put off the fire sustained minor injuries.
An eye witness Mr. Uyigue Afienmagbon, who narrated how the fire started said he was surprised that all of sudden he heard a loud blast from one of the service pump-machine and within seconds the station was already engulfed with wild-fire.
Saying the most unfortunate part of the incidence was that it happened when tanker loaded with petrol was discharging product.
He said the residents of the community tried their best to put off the fire but was over powered by the highly inflammable product.
Speaking on the sad event, the managing director of Uyiosa Filling Station and APC Leader in Ugboko ward, Elder David Osaigbovo appreciated the Umoghu Nokhua community youths for their effort. In his words, "if not for the quick intervention of the youths in the locality, the fire would have spread to other private properties close to the station.
I really appreciate their efforts and prompt response.
On his part, the immediate passed Councilor representing Ugboko Ward Hon. Orobosa Micheal Osaigbovo, said "all glory and thank to God almighty, no life was lost.
Though some persons sustained minor burnt injury and are currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital. With the degree of damage at the station, it can only be God that no single soul was lost"
The Campaign Director General of Rt. Hon. Patrick Aisowieren appreciates party leaders, political associates, family members and business associates who have shown tremendous concern since the sad incidence.
Hon. Orobosa also use the medium to wish those injured quick recovery just as he promised the victims proper medical care.
Hon. Orobosa also call on appropriate authorities to make available fire service stations across local government areas especially in the rural areas just as he welcomed the development idea by the state government to constitute emergency response committee across the 18 LGAs of the state.
