The executive council of Edo Civil Society Organisations, a coalition of civil rights groups in Edo state with the thrusts of the promotion of good governance, social justice and human rights have commenced investigation into the death of an undergraduate who is in his final year in Auchi Polytechnic.
The undergraduate, Godspower Ajayi was allegedly killed by some police officers from Edo state police command being suspected to be an internet fraudster after a hot chase.
Mr. & Mrs. Lucky Ajayi, parents of the deceased who were in painful and sober moods recounted the attributes of their son whom they described as an easy going boy and have never received any report of criminal activities on his part. They cried for justice as it is a pure case of extra judicial killing.
The leadership of EDOCSO promised to investigate every shade of the incident and ensure justice is served irrespective of who is involved. The Coordinator General of EDOCSO, Leftist Omobude Agho assured the bereaved parents that the coalition of civil rights groups will stand by them in their moment of pains and also make sure whoever has caused their son's death is dealt with in accordance with the law. He submitted to state with all emphasis that every life in Edo matters to the coalition hence all that is needed will be done to deter a reoccurrence.
Godspower Ajayi until his death was a final year student of Public Administration department in Federal Polytechnic, Auchi.
