While applauding the recent stand by Edo PDP for rightfully calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission to set out an outline for by- election into the 14 vacant House of Assembly seats; the Reformed Oghomwan Mandate Group is in sync with the clarion call. The silence of INEC is deepening stakeholders apprehension, hence we call for the unconditional release of the by-election timetable, and on time too, bearing in mind that the 90 days constitutional time frame is gradually winding down.
Edo South constituencies are mostly devasted by the comical display of treachery against Edo State House of Assembly leadership since the Assembly proclamation was made by the Governor. By a twist of fate, the 14 Assembly members having adopted Mr. Adams Oshiomhole as their holy priest, they were accordingly misled into waging unnecessary war against Speaker Okiye despite a subsisting count ruling validating his Speakership.
Crass antagonism is alien to Edo politics, owing to the shared cultural heritage among the component tribes in our State; the attempt by Adams Oshiomhole to implant this despicable seed into our political life must be outrightly condemned by all true progressives.
Mr. Adams Oshiomhole started the ugly narrative of pedestrian political antagonism, bu his crude assault on Late Ge. S. O. Ogbemudia, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and Late Chief Tony Anenih. So, camping EDHA members-elect in the boys quarters of his Abuja bungalow as political renegades to Governor Godwin Obaseki, Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, Speaker Frank Okiye and APC chairman Anslem Ojezua is at best a clandestine attempt to ruin the political careers of a once bumbling Assembly members elect; alas, their political career are indeed in ruins. What a pity.
At the risk of charging friends and families of the politically ruined former members elect against the APC national Chairman, we like to call on the loved ones of these fellows to direct their angst against Adams Oshiomhole for misleading them, instead of allowing to surrender for inauguration, despite spirited appeals by Frank Okiye to them in print and electronic media.
We therefore along with the groundswell of action calls on INEC to roll out instrumentality for a free, fair and credible by-election without further delay.
