A former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Domingo Obende, who is an elder statesman in Edo state and grand patron of the Obaseki Shaibu Movement (OSM), has lauded Gov. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki of Edo State on his decision to immediately implement the N30,000 National Minimum Wage for civil servants in Edo state.
The highly respected former Law maker of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who is from the Edo North Senatorial District of Edo state, told Newsmen on Thursday the 16th of January in Abuja the (F.C.T) federal capital territory that the decision to implement the new minimum wage by the governor without any further delay, is a clear indication that the welfare of the people is his (Obaseki) utmost priority and of course, a welcome development for which we must all give him accolades.
According to the distinguished Senator “l am so happy the new minimum wage has been approved and implemented. It is a very laudable Output from the Decision Making Point of Edo state Government headed by Governor Godwin Obaseki".
Also in reacting to the massive infrastructural development in the state and the numerous projects already completed and commissioned by the Governor, the great Edo born business mogul and a well trained Public Administrator said the governor has also made funds available for the completion of other projects in the state, saying Obaseki is not a Governor who starts any project without completion.
The great politician in appreciating the governor once more on the new minimum wage said "I have never doubted Obaseki’s sincerity to implement the new minimum wage, knowing full well his track record in prompt payment of salary without any hitch, which has never happen in the history of Edo state since its creation in 1991".
He however urged the State worker to use this opportunity to improve in their service delivery to Edo people as the Governor has not only perform his role in Edo state Public Personal Management through the provision of conducive environment, motivation and prompt payment of salary for civil servants in the state, but has also through this implementation proven his great love for the civil service institution and shown that the welfare of the Edo state civil servants is his own welfare.
On his final note, the former senator urged the workers to continue supporting the policies and programs of the State government in whatever good capacity they can, as this is the only means through which the civil service friendly policies of this Administration can be continued, sustained and consolidated even as he wished them good luck as they enjoy their new salary structure as a result of the Good Governance inherent in the Obaseki/Shaibu Administration.
