The Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Frank Okiye has reiterated that the Obaseki-led administration is committed to good governance and infrastructural needs of the State rather than "Stomach infrastructure" of some individuals.
He stated this while playing host to members of All Progressive Congress (APC) Chairmen Forum in Edo State who paid him a familiarization visit in his office in Benin.
Welcoming them, the Speaker who congratulated the group leader, Elder Benjamin Oghumu on his emergence as Chairman of the forum, acknowledged the role of the forum in piloting the affairs of the party at the grassroot level.
Rt. Hon. Okiye declared that the House was planning to embark on a tour round the Constituency whose seats has been declared vacant to ascertain what the Constituents need, while lamenting the pitfalls of the members-elect who refused to do the needful for their inauguration.
He added that the consequence of their inactions warranted the House to declare vacant the seats of the affected Constituencies.
He also noted that with the same House resolution to declare the seats vacant, the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) were directed to conduct by-election in the affected Constituencies so as to produce people who will provide quality representation to their people and share in party's ideology.
However, the Speaker noted that the crisis rocking the APC in the State had been on for a long time and that it was not necessitated by the proclamation of the House by the Governor.
Hon. Okiye, recalled the instances of the Suspended National Chairman, Comrade Adams Alliu Oshiomole refusal to join the campaign train of Edo State Chapter of the party during the Presidential, National and State House of Assembly elections. Stressing that Comrade Adams Alliu Oshiomole and Governor Godwin Obaseki has at different times alluded to crises of confidence between the two far way back before the elections.
The Speaker affirmed that the House had done it's part and will continue to do better for the overall good of the State.
Earlier, leader of the group, Elder Benjamin Oghumu said they were in Speaker's office to intimate him about the Forum while congratulating the Speaker on his electioneering victory and his subsequent elevation as the Speaker of the House.
Elder Oghumu who is the Chairman of the APC LGA Chairmen Forum who doubles as the Chairman of Orhionmwon APC reaffirmed their support to the Speaker's leadership of the House and expressed their unalloyed support to the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration and second term bid.
