NCDC confirms first coronavirus death in Edo State

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed the death of a coronavirus (COVID-19) patient in Edo State.

Vanguard gathered that the Centre, late Friday published the update of the coronavirus cases in Nigeria. The latest report indicated the confirmed cases to have risen to 210, after the addition of the 20 new cases.

Nigeria until today has only recorded two deaths from the virus. Patients in Lagos State and Edo State accounted for the two new fatalities respectively.

NCDC statement posted on Twitter reads; “Twenty new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria; 11 in Lagos, 3 in the FCT, 3 in Edo, 2 in Osun & 1 in Ondo Two new deaths have been recorded in Lagos and Edo State As at 10:30 pm 3rd April there are 210 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria.”

The first case of the COVID-19 as recalled by Vanguard was reported on February 27, 2020; after the pandemic which was first discovered in Wuhan City of China late December 2019, spread to Africa.

Edo State so far has recorded seven cases of the virus, three of the seven cases in the state were reported today.

Meanwhile, Ondo was the last South Western state to record any case from the coronavirus pandemic. The lone case in the State was reported earlier today
