That the Edo State former Governor Adams Oshiomhole is the National Chairman of our great party, the All Progressives Congress is no longer news; haven retired as 8-year Governor in Edo State, Oshiomhole's successor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki pulled resources together to ensure that Adams Oshiomhole emerged the National Chairman of the APC, succeeding Chief John Odigie-Oyegun
For the information of the general public, it was Mr. Godwin Obaseki who pulled the strings that landed Oshiomhole in Abuja as the National Chairman of the ruling party
One would have thought that haven played substantial role in Oshiomhole's emergence as the Party boss, Oshiomhole would work assiduously with the Obaseki-led administration to attract federal and global presence to Edo State, ensuring that Edo ranks high in the comity of vibrant economies
The reverse however, has been the case; waging an obsessive war against the Obaseki-led government borrowing the instrumentalities of the EPM to unseat Godwin Obaseki, overheating the polity at the Edo homefront has been Oshiomhole's greatest objective since becoming the National Chairman of the APC
A question thrown at Oshiomhole at different fora as to what the Gov. Godwin Obaseki has done to warrant his unsolicited antagonism and obsession returns with improper answer; indeed, Oshiomhole, the EPM, Osagie Ize-Iyamu and a host of other anti-development agents have lost touch with the generality of Edo people; they are now confused, naked and helpless on the streets of Edo
Ize-Iyamu, with flair for illegallity thought Oshiomhole being the National Chairman could do anything and go unpunished; breaking the rules of the APC at both the State and National levels is a crime that Comrade Adams Aliu Oshiomhole and his EPM bedfellows will be punished for someday
It is however reassuring that Mr. Godwin Obaseki, haven successfully secured the confidence of Edo people in the last 3 years remains a viable tool for Edo's development
It is crystal clear that Godwin Obaseki, whether the June 22 primary election is direct, indirect or consensus, is an 8-year Edo State Governor; Obaseki, apart from just been a Governor remains a bridge between the haves and have-not, a dependable ally, a development expert, holding very dear to heart the yearnings and aspirations of the generality of Edo people
Yes, Oshiomhole is the National Chairman of the APC, a Chair who rode on the back of his State Governor to clinch the office of National, but then became unnecessarily obsessive to remove his benefactor from office with a plan to replace him with one he had referred to in 2016 as a common thief, one opposing President Buhari, one without a party card, one without registration, one with a case of financial fraud hanging on his neck and one with questionable character and excess political baggage
With the current developments at the federal and the humiliation that the National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole has faced in the last 48 hours from critical stakeholders, one can say clearly and unequivocally that yes, Oshiomhole may be the National Chairman of the APC, but he doesn't hold the yam and the knife
Ize-Iyamu has been deceived, ridiculed, maligned and rubbished by the powers-that-be once again; our prayers are that Oshiomhole, been who he is, would learn from the bitter lessons of the Edo State gubernatorial election to do the right thing
