Despite ongoing efforts to settle the rift between Governor Obaseki and Adams Oshiomole, the duo has refused to settle.

In a statement made by the former Governor of the state, Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor, over the weekend, he revealed that efforts has been made by President Buhari, Aliko Dangote and the Oba of Benin to settle the issues between the two but has so far proven abortive.

He also divulged that efforts were made by the Reconciliation Committee which was setup by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party to resolve the situation but it yielded no result.

He disclosed that, “The crisis in Edo State Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) which has simmered for about two years now threatens to boil over as we draw closer to the Party’s gubernatorial primaries on June 22."

"This portends disastrous consequences for the Party and the people of Edo State unless it is resolved promptly before the primaries."

“Given my position in the Party I have made efforts outside of public glare towards bringing about reconciliation by speaking to the two leading protagonists, the National Chairman Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and His Excellency the Governor of Edo State Godwin Obaseki as well as some of their supporters."

“I also tried to rally some elders of the Party from the State to broker peace. It is common knowledge that our revered royal father, His Royal Majesty the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II made his own efforts including appealing to our President Mohammadu Buhari to help broker peace among these two illustrious sons of Edo State."

“It is also believed that their mutual friend Dr. Aliko Dangote made repeated efforts at reconciliation to no avail. So did a number of others that I know."

Recall that the former governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, also urged both Adams Oshiomhole, and Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, to embrace peace so that the party can move on with it's agenda ahead of the gubernatorial primaries on June 22.

With this ongoing feud in Edo state APC, one would pause to ask, What actually caused the fued between the two?

Does APC still have a chance to win the upcoming elections?

We all hope for them to reconcile with each other and put the party interest first.
