An immediate past Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has recently thrown his weight behind the fuel subsidy removal by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Ahmed Tinubu.

The immediate past Minister was said to be in Edo State for a church thanksgiving to God.

Speaking during an impromptu visit to newsmen at Press Center of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, in Benin, Hon Clement Agba said, "as a minister of Budget and National Planning then, I usually asked what is been taken out what is being consumed. They usually tell us that there's no need for all that.

"Today, the subsidy has been removed, the subsidy divers are angry and are raising protest from all front to cause national distractions. I heard there is protest in South Africa in regards to the subsidy removed from petrol in Nigeria. What concerns them if they were not among the subsidy devils?

"The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Ahmed Tinubu has come up with a loan program to enable the poor to build a house and repay the loan for up to about 20 and 30 years. Students can go to school with loans from the government directly. This will make the Nigerian economy thrift without stress and the interest is very friendly", he said.

Responding, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Edo State Council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe appreciated the immediate past Minister of state for finding time to visit the journalists in the state.
