Duke bemoans allegations by village elder, appeals to Oba Ewuare 11

Crusaderhotnews

The Enogie (duke) of Orovie Village in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, HRH Iyi-Ewuare Eguaveon, has regretted what he regarded as unsubstantiated allegations levelled against him and elders by the second-in-command and now supposed village head

 (odionwere), Pa Emmanuel Osamwonyi Oviarobo.

But reacting in the presence of Pa Reuben Omosigho, Pa David Onaiwu, the Assistant Secretary, Pa Charles Aghahowa, Pa Monday Osarenkhoe and Mr. Osaretin Aihanuwa, the former bush inspector at his dukedom, the duke denied all the allegations, describing them as not only spurious and lacked substance, but a calculated attempt to smear his good image and create wrong impression about him and the elders before the palace of the Oba of Benin.

Recalled that Pa Oviarobo, had recently alleged through a media report that the duke has refused to send elders to accompany him (Oviarobo) to the palace of the Oba of Benin, HRM Oba Ewuare 11 CFR, to formally introduce him as the next village head so that the monarch could give consent to official installation and also that the duke is using cult boys to intimidate them among others.

The duke said that he had no personal disagreement with him except as he has committed some sacrilegious acts which negate the traditional norms of the village.

He added that Pa Oviarobo committed varieties of sins ranging from usurping his power as the enogie using the influence of his younger brother who then was the village chairman to cede a building plot measuring 2000ft by 2000ft to neighbouring Ogunmwenyin Village, which he (Oviarobo) claimed to be maternally affiliated to.

The duke also noted that Pa Oviarobo forcefully sold the lands belonging to some elders and people of Orovie, dug holes round some lands which is totally forbidden, destroyed people's buildings and took him (duke ) and some elders to Okada High Court when he was querried over his inept dispositions in the village, wrote petitions to the offices of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 5 headquarters, Benin City and the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Police as well as building ancestral court (oguedion) which was later ordered for destruction by the Oba in Ogunmwenyin Village so that he could also be controlling it.

The duke said all these were the sins and asserted that it was based on this he said not until he (Pa Oviarobo) has done the needful to appease the ancestors and gods, he would not introduce him to the Oba for onward installation.

The Enogie however appealed to Oba Ewuare 11 CFR to call him (Pa Oviarobo) to questioning so as to put full stop to his flagrant desecration of the tradition and avoid his ceaseless mortgaging of the village for selfish interest.
