The Executive Chairman of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government, Dr. Eric Osayande on Monday took over Council administration; the official handing over ceremony held at the office of the Chairman, Council Secretariat, Idogbo, Benin City, the Edo State capital.
Presenting the handing over notes, Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), Ikpoba-Okha Local Government, Mr. Richard Edenamigho commended Osayande for his foresight in the years 2018-2021, noting that his policies and programmes paved the way for growth and development in the grassroot.
"We have followed your programmes closely, your marks are obvious and remain a template for development across the LGA; we believe strongly that your return to Council will further consolidate your past achievements as we continue to build on the foundations you have laid", Edenamigho added.
In his response, Osayande appreciated the HOLGA, other officers of the Council for holding on strong to the ideas of development started by his administration, noting that he is very proud of the achievements and happy to be back home.
"I am very impressed with the way and manner you have sustained what we started in 2018; we are going to triple the tempo of development in Ikpoba-Okha."
On environment, the Chairman noted, "I am not very impressed with the state of the environment; we must move fast to clean up the environment; we are going to move quickly to clean up our environment by way of sustaining existing policies and developing new ones for clean, safe and healthy environment."
Osayande directed that personnel be immediately deployed to Ogheghe on Sapele Road, Ramat Park and other areas in need of attention.
"I am directing the immediate deployment of personnel from tomorrow (Tuesday) to commence the clean up of Ogheghe and environs; other areas deserving attention across the LGA will be addressed in the coming days."
Earlier, Dr. Eric Osayande participated in the swearing-in of elected Council Chairmen, where he, alongside seventeen (17) other elected Local Government Council Chairmen subscribed to the oath of office.
The event held at the Government House, Osadebey Avenue, Benin City.
Vice Chairman, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government, Hon. Osamuyi Idehen was present at the handing over ceremony in Idogbo.
Others present were the Head of Local Government Administration, Mr. Richard Edenamigho, Head of Administration, Pst. Jossy Duze, Director of Administrative and General Services, Comrade Blessing Uhunmwagho, Director of Finance and Accounts, Comrade Veronica Adjene, Director of Environment, Caroline Owegie, Director of works, Osama Ayevbuomwan and a host of others.
Elected Councilors from across the ten (10) Wards in Ikpoba-Okha including Lucy Guobadia (Ward 1), Hannah Enogie Inem (Ward 2), Osahon Usiobaifo (Ward 3), Esosa Nosa-Odia (Ward 4) Martins Oshodin (Ward 5), Obosa Jolly Ogbeide (Ward 6), Kingsley Balogban (Ward 7), Esosa Joana Orumwense (Ward 8), Yvonne Yetunde (Ward 9) and Felix Oni (Ward 10) were also present at the handing over ceremony
The Councilors will be sworn-in by the Council Chairman, Tuesday, 10am, at the floor of the Legislative building, Idogbo Secretariat.
Women groups, girls groups, youths and other PDP faithfuls in Ikpoba-Okha witnessed the ceremony.
