A middle-aged woman identified as Anthonia Uwa Omuwa, has regretted what she described as sudden attack unleashed on her and son, David Osasere Omuwa, as well as burning of her business shop over her refusal to produce her son for Ogboni confraternity cult initiation, which was claimed to be in line with her husband, Otamere Omuwa resolution which allows his son to be initiated.
Recall that last month (on the 10th of October), some members of the Ogboni cult group came to her house to inform her of their readiness to incorporate her son into the cult group as planned by her husband, Otamere Omuwa and while she (Anthonia Uwa Omuwa), wanted to know the veracity of their claim, since her husband was not available in the house, the ogboni cult members started to molest, harass and even threatened her and son for being rude to them.
A close family source, who was privy to the happenings around her, but refused to disclose his identity for fear of being attacked and even killed, said while addressing journalists on the issues, at the victim’s residence in Benin City, that though they were aware of the membership dispositions of her husband and father of David Osasere Omuwa, as a member and leader in the ogboni cult group and that they (neighbours) were surprised that on the 15th of last month (October), five days after the ogboni cultists first invaded their house to meet her to produce her son so as to enable them forcefully initiate him into the cult group, again came to her house to request for the production of her son for the initiation, but she refused and as such, the cultists started to be beating up her and son.
That on the 22nd of October (same last month),at about 8.35am, Anthonia Uwa Omuwa, reported the matter at the police station and before the police could swing into action to make arrest and possibly carry out investigations to unravel the circumstances, the ogboni cultists, who felt embarrassed by her actions, went on rampage and burnt down her shop and before this time, they had made several attempts to kidnap her son but she resisted and in the process, they injured her and threatened to kill her and son for defying their rules.
The source noted that about four days ago (on the 29th October), at about 6.30pm, the same ogboni cult members again came to her house even though it was apparent that her husband who also their member and leader was not available, to forcefully kidnap her son, David Osasere Omuwa, and was held hostage for days and that it took divine intervention for him to be dropped and abandoned elsewhere, but they further threatened that since she did not allow her son to be initiated into the ogboni cult group, in line with their directives, they would kill her and her son for humiliating them especially having seen her behavior to negate the principles of initiation.
He maintained that the ogboni cultists boasted that the police and other security agents cannot help the said woman and her son since they have all the financial resources to cover up their criminal acts if actualized in that regard.
