Police Declare A middle-aged man Wanted Over Alleged Complicity In The Killing of 17 Soldiers in Delta State

Authorities of the Nigeria Police, Edo State Police Command, has declared a middle-aged man, Nelson Oronsaye, wanted over his alleged involvement in harbouring one of the principal actors who recently killed about 17 Soldiers, who were in peace mission in Okuama- Ewu Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Recalled that the 17 Soldiers led by captain were gruesomely killed when they were ambushed on the 14th of last month (March) by some miscreants.

An eye witness who gave detail account of what happened but refused to disclose his identity, said that there had been feud which ensued between some people of Okuama-Ewu Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area and Okoloba Community in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State over illegal oil bunkering activities in the locality.

The source further said that the ugly development led to the forceful invasion of Okuama-Ewu Community by the military on the 15th March, scouting for those who engaged in the dastardly minded acts against the soldiers.

The source added that one of the boys who were in Okuama-Ewu Community working as a labourer and a friend to Nelson Oronsaye, was fingered to have been involved and after the military took over the community to the extent that the people including men, women, children, girls and boys ran away from their houses the bush to hide.

The source noted that while investigation on the matter was ongoing, it was revealed that the labourer who was taken to Okuama-Ewu Community by a youth leader to work for him, was fingered in the complicity and not minding the consequences, ran to Benin and take refuge in the house of Nelson Oronsaye unknown him (Nelson) that his friend was on wanted list of the police and the military even a traditional ruler in Okuama-Ewu Community was arrested and taken to army headquarters in Abuja for interrogation on the killing.

The source explained that information which later reached the police confirmed that the said Okoro Jude, was in Nelson's house and the police in Delta State signalled the Edo State Police who swung into action and we're carrying out discreet  spy and before they could arrest the said Okoro Jude, he had escaped and Nelson Oronsaye, was not in the house as that time but his pregnant wife and his son had left for where she does her petty business. 

The police who laid siege in Nelson's house, vowed to arrest him ( Nelson) for harbouring the said culprit, Okoro Jude, even though he was not directly involved in the killing of the 17 Soldiers but was merely acting as a good Samaritan to his friend whom they both were primary school classmates 

The source maintained that the continued laying siege and invasion by the police elicited fear and threats to the life of Nelson Oronsaye, his wife, Mrs Mercy Oronsaye and their son, Jason Aisosa Oronsaye, stressing that the police after ceaseless attempt to arrest Nelson Oronsaye but to no avail, especially having become glaring that the police and the military were planning to arrest and prosecute him in a case of treasonable felony, which he knew nothing about, he escaped yesterday, ( 17th April) to prevent his arrest.

That after discovering that he was not seen, the police declare him and his friend, Okoro Jude, wanted since  President Tinubu has given order to both the police and the military to fish out everybody that was involved in direct or indirect killing of the soldiers, saying as at press time no single soul is seen in Okuama-Ewu Community as the military had taken over everywhere to revenge the killing of their patriotic colleagues.

The source affirmed that as at the time of filing this report, the whereabout of Mrs Mercy Oronsaye and her son, remain unknown as the entire area had been gripped with the fear of possible arrest of her husband, Nelson Oronsaye.
