Sorrows and weeping have enveloped the family of Paul Erhahon Ehigiator in Ulemon community, Oredo Local Government Area in Edo State following the deadly attack of his 39-year old wife, Mrs. Joy Paul Erhahon Ehigiator and the murder of her six-year old last born (son) by gunmen, suspected to be members of the dreaded Black Axe Confraternity.
It was gathered that the incident occurred on July 25th, 2024 at the Mrs. Ehigiator's residence in Ulemon, a development that has sent shivers to the spine of the family of the Mrs. Ehigiator and child.
The ugly situation according to sources has further thrown the entire family into palpable fear of the unknown, especially as the safety and whereabouts of their son, husband of Joy, Mr. Paul Erhahon Ehigiator is unknown to the family.
When our correspondent visited the scene of crime at Ulemon community, the Ehigiator's residence was visibly deserted as no even no one person was in the house.
Residents in the area were seen clustering in pairs lamenting the attack of the house wife and the subsequent killing of her child, a situation which led many into uncontrollably tears and gnashing of teeth.
It was scooped that Mrs. Joy Ehigiator, who narrowly escaped death in the hands of her assailants is critically laying down in an undisclosed hospital in Benin City, receiving medical attention.
Speaking with our crime Correspondent, a next house neighbour who pleaded anonymity over fear of being attacked or possibly killed, narrated that trouble started for the family sometime in February, 2020 following Ehigiator's renunciation from his Supreme Eiye Confraternity (SEC)
The source said that Ehigiator who was the supreme leader of the violent Eiye secret cult group otherwise known as 'Airlords in the South-South region in Nigeria, decided to renounce his membership of the group following his new found faith in Christianity.
He disclosed that Ehigiator escaped death by whiskers when the suspected daredevil members of the feared Black Axe Confraternity, a fiercest rival group to Eiye Confraternity invaded his Ulemon residence apparently with the intent to eliminate him on February 18th, 2020.
The source informed the attack on Ehigiator was made possible because he does not have the backing of the Supreme Eiye Confraternity any more as he has renounced them, this, no doubt has exposed him to other rival cult groups.
The source added that angered by the escape of their target, Paul Erhahon Ehigiator, the suspected cultists swooped on his mother, killing her in a gory manner.
According to the source, the former Eiye leader had to run to somewhere in the Northern part of the country for possible safety after several attempts on his life by the daredevils.
The source said: " When his life became more in danger, Paul Erhahon Ehigiator had to run to the North where he was staying with his twin brother, leaving his wife and children behind in Benin, Edo State.
"When it seems his ordeal was over, members of the Black Axe Confraternity trailed him to his hideout in the North and to further compound Ehigiator's woes, his twin brother was brutally killed during the conduct of 2023 Governorship/ House of Assembly election.
"While managing to escape unhurt from the cultists, Ehigiator ran back to Benin where he was staying with his wife and children here in Ulemon community.
"Sadly, eight months after returning from the North, the cultists made another attempt on his life in December 20th, 2023, as some armed Black Axe members, numbering about 30 invaded Ehigiator's residence at about 7:30pm – 8:30pm.
"This development made him to fled home to only God knows location apparently for safety, though, his family members are fearing he must have been killed by the cult group', he said
The source informed that the Black Axe group have vowed to eliminate Paul Erhahon Ehigiator whenever and wherever they sight him, a situation that made him to appeal to authorities who made know the whereabouts of the fleeing Ehigiator to ensure his safety.
Confirming the report, the Police authorities in Edo State, said that it has commenced full scale investigation into the incident, saying that no arrest has been made in connection with the attack on Mrs. Ehigiator and child.
Recall that this was a similar response from the police when the mother of Ehigiator was brutally murdered on February 18th, 2020
