CELEBRATING SIR SOLOMON OGOH A SOCIAL ENIGMA AT 80.

It was a beautiful Sunday,the 6th of October 2024,as the family of sir Solomon Ogoh a retired permanent secretary, Government House and protocol and former Resident Electoral Commissioner in Delta and Taraba states rolled out the drums to celebrate a man of impeccable character,an aura of candour a quintessential Administrator ,sir chief Solomon Ogoh at 80.

Dignitaries from all walks of life, politics, Civil service, Agriculture,Banking and Finance, Aviation industry,The Media, Legal profession, Traditional institution, and Entertainment industry converged on Our Saviour Anglican church,Etete,GRA for a special Thanksgiving service to mark the 80th birthday celebration of sir chief Solomon Ogoh,a knight of St Christopher, church of Nigeria, Anglican communion.

Clad on a blue flowing Agbada ,sir Solomon Ogoh, who always enjoys the company of his wife Mrs Nelly Ogoh a retired Director Finance and Account at the then Ministry Of Basic Education,Edo State shared ideas together on the journey so far.

The celebrant who passed through the visititude of life ,navigated through rough edges to rise to the pinnacle of his career in the civil service as a permanent secretary.

The church service which attracted an array of personalities was an opportunity to appreciate God for his Grace and faithfulness in life of sir Solomon Ogoh and to also rededicate his life to the service of God and humanity..

Accompanied by His Wife Mrs Nelly Ogoh, children, family members, members of the Forum of retired Heads of service and permanent secretaries, eminent jurists, including Hon Justice Efe Ikponwonba ,danced gallantly to the alter to present his Thanksgiving offerings.

Attention shifted to Chief Solomon Ogoh residence in the heart of GRA,with banners of various sizes carrying birthday messages and crested photographs of the celebrant dotting every corners.

Former Surveyor General in the Defunct Bendel state and ODIO_EVBO of Okpokhumi Email, Owan East Local Government Area Sir Solomon Jaiyeola Ojeikere who chaired the occasion described sir Solomon Ogoh as a consummate of human potential.

"Successful voyage in the civil service and significant milestone accomplished in the conduct of the General Elections that ushered in the present Democratic dispensation were eloquent testimonies that he truly possessed the wisdom of the Biblical Solomon".

The reception provided a veritable platform for retired permanent secretaries, that worked with sir Solomon Ogoh,and those who mentored him in the civil service to showered encomium on the celebrant for navigating through stormy water to attained 80 and joined the club of Octogenarian.

Oldest permanent secretary Emeritus and mentor of both Heads of service and permanent secretaries,sir Frank Ijese Imoukhuome who was a permanent secretary in the mid Western region and the defunct Bendel state and 94 years old prayed God for good health, and fruitful years of service to God and humanity.

Sir Ogoh flanked by his wife Mrs Nelly Ogoh, children and family members,cut his 80th birthday cake amidst pomp and pegantries.

Chairman,Forum of retired Heads of service and permanent secretaries,Usi Osemwowa Esq led other members of the Forum to present a giant birthday card to the celebrant.

Former Head of Service and former chairman Edo State Civil service Commission,Princess Ekiuwa Inneh who spoke on behalf of members of the forum,expressed gratitude to God for the giant strides attained by Chief Solomon Ogoh while in the service.

 Former National president, Nigeria Union of Journalists,NUJ,chief George Izobo , retired permanent secretaries,Adesua Kukpolati and Humphrey Uanseoje Esq all spoke glowingly on the humane qualities of chief Ogoh which endeared him to all.

The visibly elated Solomon Ogoh expressed gratitude to God for keeping him alive to celebrate and for those who through their prayers, and good will made the celebration of his 80th birthday a huge success.

He was deeply appreciative of his wife Mrs Nelly Ogoh for being the pillar of his strength, and his children for their support and acknowledging the fact that it was better to celebrate ones parents while alive than committing huge resources for elaborate burial.

Sir Solomon Aigbu_Udu Oibo Ogoh was born to the family of Mr and Mrs Iriemi Ogoh in Afuze,Owan East Local Government Area in October 3rd 1944.He attended St Luke's Anglican School Afuze in 1951,for his primary Education and proceeded to Holy Trinity Grammar school,Sabogidda ora in 1958.

He also attended Muslim College Ijebu ode for his higher Education in 1965,and gained Admission into University of Ife in 1969 and graduated with Bachelor of Arts degree in History and political science.
