The Benin Monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare 11 CFR, on Tuesday, October 8, received in audience in company of his chiefs, the Governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpeholo, Akpakomiza, his deputy-elect, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa and stalwarts of the All Progressives Congress, APC, led by a former governor and now serving senator, Sen. Comr. Adams Oshiomhole, who were at the palace to pay thank-you visit in respect of their victory in the just concluded governorship election in the state.
Oba Ewuare 11, while addressing the governor-elect and the other visitors, thanked God almighty and the ancestors for making the Edo State governorship election peaceful, despite high tension of threats which hitherto associated with the campaign processes prior to the conduct of the election.
He congratulated the Governor-elect and his deputy on their landslide victory at the polls, while urging them to keep to the tenets of their promises made during the electioneering campaign for the purposes of taking the state to an enviable height in terms of good governance.
The Oba of Benin also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for ensuring peaceful conduct of the governorship election in the state by deploying formidable security mechanism which culminated in the successful conduct of the election, just as he attributed the success of the peaceful election to his resilient dispositions to urge the good people of the kingdom, especially the traditional heads to embark on a fasting and prayer intercessory process to wade off dangers and deaths away from the state.
Oba Ewuare prayed to God almighty and the ancestors to protect the lives of the governor-elect and his deputy to enable them officially assume the leadership positions comes November 12 and assured them of his continuous support, adding his palace will be opened to them at all time whether morning, afternoon and night.
Earlier in his remarks, the governor-elect, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, thanked the Oba of Benin for the warmth reception despite his busy schedule, noting they were at the palace to inform the Benin monarch of their victories at the polls and to also present their Certificates of Return to his majesty.
The governor-elect confirmed that their victories were attributed to the spiritual roles played by his majesty to bring peace to the state while the electioneering process lasted.
He assured the Oba of Benin of his administration's constant consultation for wise counseling and advice with a view to bringing the desired leadership to the people when he will have been officially sworn in as the executive governor on November 12.
Other members of APC on the entourage included the newly judiciary reinstated deputy governor of Edo State, Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu, Comr. Jarret Tenebe, State Chairman of APC, the former deputy governor of the state and APC leader in Edo South, Rt. Hon. Pius Egberanmwen Odubu and the immediate past senator representing Edo South in the national assembly and director-general of the APC governorship campaign council, Sen. Matthew Urhoghide and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
Others were former Oredo Council boss, Hon. Osaro Obazee, the former Commissioner representing Edo State on the board of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Hon. Saturday Uwuilekhue, member representing Orhionmwon constituency 11, Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Osamwonyi Atu and former member, Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Patrick Osayimwen among others.
