We have been informed of disagreements between market women in Edo Central, Edo North Senatorial districts and Pst. Josephine's "Iyaloja-Otagbogbo", noting that "Iyaloja" is "alien" to markets in their localities and as such cannot be imposed on them.
Having been outrightly rejected in Benin, due to the cultural aberration the infamous Pst. Josephine's "Iyaloja" poses on the age-long culture of the Benin nation, market women of Edo Central and Edo North extractions, many of whom have been following developments, may have been gingered to disagree with Pst. Josephine.
Edo Central, North market women says their markets are products of a cultural chemistry between them and their ancestors, and as such must not be dragged in the murky waters of politics.
They have said the Onorekishan in Esan land, Ikposaki in Afemai, Ayiene-Osofu in Igara, all of which are equivalent to the Benin Iye-Eki by way of language translation cannot be corrupted for an infamous "Iyaloja-Otagbogbo" due to its extreme political colouration.
Meanwhile, market tours across Benin City has commenced, to oversight compliance of Benin Iye-Ekis, alongside their market women to the protection, promotion and defense of the age-long culture and tradition of the Benins, and that market shrines are retooled and altars raised in markets currently without shrines.
Pst. Josephine Ibhaguezejele's rejection in Benin City and across other parts of Edo State, including her Esan homeland, is a chilling reminder of the deep-seated connection Edo people, particularly the Benins, share with their age-old tradition and ancestry, which predates and outlives bad political practice now prevalent in Edo under Okpebholo.
