Obaseki, still dazzling the global community one year after leaving office

By Gidigba Group

Edo former governor Godwin Obaseki, has not stop displaying brilliance and top-shelf intellectual fecondity, despite being out of office exactly one year today—365 days after, the visionary leader has become a global star, illuminating the global community with facts and figures.

Yesterday, our camera lens captured the ex-governor at an intellectual conversation on "reform, accountability, and rebuilding public education systems" at the St. Anthony's College of the prestigious Oxford University, United Kingdom.

Obaseki, in his usual detailed analytical prowess, gave insights on governance reforms and accountability, and of course, rebuilding public education systems, borrowing gains from his administration's Edobest initiative as a pilot.

EdoBEST is Obaseki-led administration's intervention programme designed to revolutionize basic education in Edo State—birthed in 2018, Obaseki's EdoBEST stands out today as a progressive template for the implementation of a basic education reform in Nigeria.

States like Bayelsa, Lagos, and Countries like Tanzania, Namibia, Liberia and a whole lot of other entities, have all visited Edo during Obaseki's reign to understudy EdoBEST.

In fact, Lagos governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, once commended the EdoBEST initiative, noting that Lagos borrowed the programme from Edo and even doubled it—https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17QzsmtMX2/.

Obaseki's shine at the world stage, particularly in education, signposts a broader perspective of his avowed commitment to educational development, a cause he pursued unapologetically as governor.

The ex-governor will be remembered for his technological integration, structured pedagogy, and data-driven management in education—through the distribution of teacher tablets with scripted lessons, real-time monitoring through digital dashboards, structured pedagogy for consistent instruction, and EdoBEST@Home for remote learning, which includes mobile quizzes and guides.

Obaseki's EdoBEST program further emphasizes community engagement and provides continuous professional development for teachers.

And as Obaseki continue to engage the global space, good-spirited Edos at home and abroad, considers the former governor a beacon, a scion of modern Edo, whose governance methodologies has become a model for contemporary governance, that if objectively adopted by successive administrations, will further place Edo on the spotlight for increased cross-cultural development and accelerated global buy-in.

Truthfully, Obaseki's shoes has become too big for his successor to step in, hence Edo sinks fast, its image crumbles internationally under Okpebholo, as Obaseki shines at the world stage.
