Ebo Stone, on Wednesday, descended heavily on a female journalist working with Edo Broadcasting Service.
Ebo Stone is reported to have slapped a female journalist who works with EBS and attached to the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Juliet Ehi in government house during an empowerment scheme for children living with disabilities—the programme was coordinated by the First Lady's Office.
While the empowerment programme was going on, an EBS camera man, stood by and watched the events, there were some disordeliness in the process, for which he tried to salvage, from nowhere, Ebo Stone, in his overzealousness, is said to have accused the camera man of recording the disordeliness, and started harassing him, a situation that prompted the EBS female journalist to intervene at least to rescue her camera man from Ebo Stone's fangs, in the process of that a heavy slap landed on her face courtesy of Ebo Stone.
The development has caused severe physical and psychological trauma on the female journalist, according to the EBS MD.
Chairman of the Edo NUJ, Festus Alenkhe, has condemned Ebo Stone's action in very strong terms, Alenkhe called for the arrest and prosecution of the assaulter, Ebo Stone—public assault, particularly by way of slapping, is an ugly development that has become prominent in the Okpebholo-led government and openly celebrated by officials of the government.
Managing Director of EBS, Suleiman Aledeh, a veteran broadcaster, has vowed to follow the matter to a logical conclusion—Aledeh said in an interview that if this will be his last job, to see Ebo Stone face the music, he is ready.
The EBS MD noted that while the Okpebholo-led government is working very hard to rid off hooliganism from the State, disgruntled elements like Ebo Stone, who has become a ready pick for thuggery and hooliganism, seems to be frustrating deliberate efforts of government—Aledeh noted that Ebo Stone does not represent the Edo State governor and that his suspension following his atrocities in the State's SRT, is a very welcome development.
Aledeh charged the governor to completely dissociate himself and his government from Ebo Stone, as he is now ready to pursue justice for his assaulted staff.
Attached is a video interview by the EBS Managing Director, Suleiman Aledeh, on the ugly incident, its negative impact on the already battered Okpebholo-led government and his planned action at seeking justice for his assaulted staff.
Ebo Stone's action has drawn wide condemnations, and ranks amongst the several assaults and attacks against the dignity of persons championed by the Okpebholo-led government—Ebo Stone it was, who led other thugs to attack foreign envoys at the MOWAA facility over a month ago—as at the time of filing in this report, the Edo State government has not made any official statement on Ebo Stone's assault on the female journalist.
