 In the military seething, offices of The Head Of State or whichever they may like to call it, military president, Cheif of Staff Supreme Headquarter, Chief of Army Staff, Cheif of Defence Staff etc are all known and regarded as Political Positions in arm forces. 

The moment you assumed such position in arm forces it automatically becomes political, therefore, it is not on merit or degrees one has acquired in the force, but the risked and roles such a person played during the coup that he or she  are  being compensated for. 

What this imply, is that assuming the coup failed, all those that took part are to face firing squad going by the military precision.

Hence they always compensate those who participated in the planning and at the executing staged of the coup no matter one ranked in the force. 

The same it ought to be in a Democratic seething, because politics is a coup. 

A cursory look around the world where democracy has its deep root show that 95% of those persons appointed into political offices are not only a member, but committed and rabid supporters of the party. It is like that because they sees it as a coup. 

In giving out appointments, it is not the number of degrees one possesses that count but meeting the minimum requirement to contest for election to House of assembly, House of Representative, Senate and presidency that also qualified one for political appointment except in some professional areas. 

The home truth is that political appointment is regarded as compensation or reward for party members. 

For example, President Buhari rewarded all APC leaders with appointments from each state of the federation because without their support, the party wouldn't have taken power from PDP at the centre. 

Therefore, we should all agree and take politics as a coup, when one party failed every members looses, but when the party wins, every members win.  

Note: There is no way everybody can be appointed but there is a way you reach out to everyone.
