Concerned Edo Youths, an Edo-based socio-political and cultural movement with a significant membership strength, has asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to investigate alleged abuse of the naira by one Kelly Okungbowa a.k.a, "Ebo Stone".
A letter, dated 12th March, 2025, addressed to the Zonal Director, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, and received same day by the Commission, called on the EFCC and other law enforcement agencies to immediately arrest and investigate Okungbowa.
Reinstating its confidence in the Commission, the group noted, "while we have strong confidence in the Commission in performing its core duties, we wish to unequivocally state that failure to do so, Edo youths will have no choice than to go on a peaceful protest to your office and also institute a legal action against the Commission, as the Commission will be seen as selective".
The group frowned at Okungbowa's deliberate abuse of the naira, having been seen in a recent video, spraying the naira indiscriminately on the buttocks of supposed strippers he is reputed to be patronising, thereby violating section 21(3) of the CBN act.
"While one will expect that government officials are supposed to be role models and seen to be working in accordance with the laws of the land, we are however bewildered by this show of shame and complete shenanigan, and hence our demand for his arrest and investigation as Mr. Okungbowa has violated section 21(3) of the CBN act", group noted.
"And we wish to state emphatically that Edo people and the world are watching and they are seriously interested in knowing the outcome of this petition", President of Concerned Edo Youths, Joseph Gbale, concluded.
