The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority NCAA, has banned airplane mode during flights—a development that forbids passengers to activate their phones' airplane mode during flight—be it local or international.

The Authority has amplified the importance of switching off phones, other gadgets during flight, urging passengers to comply with the switch-off phone directive.

Airplane mode, also known as flight mode or offline mode, is a setting on electronic devices that disables all wireless communication functions; when activated, it turns off features like cellular data, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS, preventing the device from sending or receiving signals, this is typically used during air travel to avoid potential interference with aircraft systems and to conserve battery life.

Observers have said this directive cannot be unconnected with recent altercations at Nigerian airports, particularly the ugly incident between Comfort Emmanson and Ibom Air hostess, which led to the indescent exposure of Emmnason's private.

Meanwhile, NCAA is reported to have recently summoned Ibom Air authority and Emmanson for questioning—a development many says is capable of unveiling new twists on the matter.
