The Executive Chairman of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government, Dr. Eric Osayande has distributed chickens, food items to indigent women in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area
This is aimed at cushioning the drastic effects of the hardship occasioned by the outbreak of the novel #CORONAVIRUS in Edo State in particular and Nigeria in general
Whereas the LGA is yet to record any case of COVID-19, the Council Boss has however designed practical strategies, policies and programmes including but not limited to the establishment of COVID-19 Emergency Response Zones in Iwogban, Ugbekun and Ogheghe Primary Health Centres to prevent a possible spread of the disease
Osayande, who spoke during the distribution of the Chickens and food items on Tuesday at the PFN Headquarters in St. Saviour area of the LGA said "the Local Government is concerned, we have realised the pains that the populace will pass through, the Governor is doing so many things; the Local Government is also keying into what the State Governor is doing, by ensuring that the vulnerables in the society get the needed support"
Speaking further, Osayande who personally distributed one hundred (100) chickens, food items and other palatables to the women urged other privileged persons to support the people at this critical time; "we also urge other persons to reach out to the masses so we would have successfully reached out to a larger number of persons"
Speaking on behalf of the women, the Chairman, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Ikpoba-Okha 1 Chapter, Rev. Francis Imafidon showered encomiums on the LGA boss; he appreciated the Chairman and his team for remembering the suffering women in the face of the dreaded COVID-19
Imafidon said "I want to thank you for this great kindness showed by the Local Government under the leadership of Eric Osayande; we accept the food items that you have brought for us; on behalf of the women of PFN and other women in our community, I say thank you"
Recall that the Osayande-led administration has continually embarked on sensitization programmes at various markets, parks and other public facilities to educate the people on the need to maintain precautionary measures in the fight against #CORONAVIRUS; the team has visited Oka, Santana, Dumez and Oregbeni Markets, others
St. Saviour, Peanut, Ogheghe, Ologbo, 3-House, Dumez and several other motor and Keke parks have been visited
Osayande, before now, had distributed over five hundred (500) hand sanitizers to residents in Ikpoba-Okha and has said that the distribution of food items, chickens, others is continuous and will be replicated in other areas on the LGA in the coming days and weeks
